Devil's Barrel

Devil's Barrel

This cocktail gets its gorgeous color from Aperol, which also gives the drink a bittersweet flavour which we are so into. We also think pairing Calvados and honey syrup is a clever move, these two flavors go so well together. This cocktail is very much in season now during autumn. The whisky base means it’s a boozy and dark drink, that you’d want to sip on slowly. Maybe in front of the fire place, together with a good book (or rather a tablet these days). We are certainly ready to welcome both

Penumbra Ripple

Penumbra Ripple

When we got the chance to try the Haig Club Single Grain Scotch Whisky we wanted to put it to maximum test. It’s supposed to be the perfect whisky for ”non whisky drinkers” which we thought sounded pretty cool. Also we were told that the Haig Club mixes well in several different kind of cocktails, and we couldn’t resist creating an original cocktail. So here we are pairing it with semi sweet sherry, herbal Chartreuse and orange driven Grand Marnier. This results in a sophisticated but focused c

Full Sneak

Full Sneak

From the The Fortune Teller Bar, St. Louis comes the Full Sneak. It's a whiskey highball topped with ginger, lemon and port wine. This one is so refreshing. Perfect for the hot summer days to come. And that's also how we tried to style the drink adding both a pretty flower as well as a seagull. We think whiskey and ginger pair particularly well. There are quite a few recipes out there taking full advantage of this successful combination. Most of them are regular cocktails though, so we thought

Sweep The Leg

Sweep The Leg

It was probably the long list of ingredients that made us interested in Sweep The Leg, by Brad Farran. Yes, a lot of measuring to be made here, but if you persist you are rewarded with a tiki like cocktail bursting with flavors. The whisky plays the leading role, but the supporting characters also deserve rewards. Orgeat has always been a favorite sweetener to us, and we still have a home made batch in our cocktail fridge. Sherry is what we are using more and more, loving its dry and low alcoho

Into Thin Air

Into Thin Air

Finally we were able to get a bottle of Italicus, and we are trying it in cocktail Into Thin Air by Lucinda Sterling. Here it is mixed with Irish whiskey (we used Jameson), fresh lemon juice and tonic water. First of all we tried the Italicus neat. It's sweet, fruity and citrus driven. Very refreshing, with a certain bitterness going on in the background. Worth mentioning is the low ABV. At only 20 % this is almost more like a dessert wine, and to us that means it's the perfect cocktail ingredi

Barbershop Medicine & Relaxed Lax

Holiday time! Oh, it's on! There will be parties aplenty, special cocktails to make and meals to prepare! The multi talented Elin over at TRAVEL * FOOD * COOL [http://www.elin.ca/] and us were chatting the other day about special things to make for celebrating the holidays. As Elin is over in Canada (we still owe them a thank you for Celine Dion, Bryan Adams and whisky) and we're in Sweden, we wanted to do a joint post on the history of native Canadians and Swedes, especially from the north. Sinu Metu

Sinu Metu

The Sinu Metu by Joy Richardson is made with Irish whiskey. We don't use that very often we have to admit, but we do have a bottle of Jameson in our cabinets and we decided it was time to put it to use. Also we realized the colour of the finished cocktail would match our new coasters. We bought them at the Museum of Spirits here in Stockholm. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the pattern on the coasters is made up of the molecular structure of alcohol. Quite fitting we thought! 1,5 oz Jame
